Approximately 6,500 soldiers currently serving in the IDF are lone soldiers. As opposed to soldiers who have a warm home to return to, lone soldiers return to an apartment with an empty refrigerator, no one to help with their laundry, or to provide company and encouragement. Adoptive families who are found suitable to the program commit to providing the soldiers with a home during leave from service, weekends and holidays, in essence, a place which they can call their own.
The families provide for the soldiers’ basic needs and bear their living costs, while the organization provides for clothing or personal items. This is extremely vital, as their salary is still not sufficient to sustain them.
